Erwan Heussaff, living the dreams of ramen lovers, went to search for the best ramen in Manila and shared what a bowl of ramen should have. Erwan tried various types of ramen such as Shoyu Ramen, Cheese Tantanmen and Shiromaru Special from the top 3 famous ramen houses in Manila. Join him as he dissects a bowl of a killer and soul-warming ramen.

1.Broth

The broth is the star of the ramen, Erwan said. It depends on the type of ramen you want. It varies from thick to thin and rich to not-so-rich.

2.Noodles

The noodles are obviously the filling ones in a bowl of ramen. You can have it the way you want whether it is soft or firm or anything in between. Either way, it won’t alter the magnificent taste of the ramen.

3.Toppings

What is ramen without good toppings? Usually, they use soft-boiled egg, pork slices, bamboo shoots and chopped leeks. These toppings are not only for an instagramable visual. It is also to add flavor and extra kick to complete a killer ramen.

The word ramen sounds very simple but in contrary, it is a bowl of complex flavors and textures. As Erwan said, you either love a ramen or hate it. You’ll love it because of the feeling you get when you eat it and probably hate it because it’s too perfect to be true. Love it or hate it, a good bowl of killer ramen will always be worth it.
